5 Things to Add to Your Morning Routine

Do you jump out of bed each morning as the sun is rising and hit the ground running at full speed? Probably not and if you do these tips are probably things you are already doing. Or do you hit the snooze button 5 times and finally get up when the kids are hollering your name or worse when you are late to be somewhere important.

Here are 5 things to add to your morning routine to set your day off right.

  1. Don’t hit snooze! Get up as soon as it goes off. Best way to prevent that is to put the alarm far enough away from the bed as possible.  You are not going to get any more rest by hitting snooze; as a matter a fact you will feel worse since it is not enough time to actually reach deep sleep. If you have actually did this you will know what I’m talking about it.
  2. Get your blood pumping! Even if it is only a 15 minute walk get your heart rate up and burn a few calories. This will actually give you energy to get your day started.
  3. Take 5 minutes to just sit in silence and think about nothing. We all lead very busy lives and with so much noise. Some people meditate and that is great and relaxing, but if that is not something you are up to doing take at least 5 minutes to just sit at the breakfast table and let your mind do nothing.
  4. Speaking of the breakfast table you need to eat breakfast. I’m sure you have heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Why? You have been fasting all night and need to feed your body and your mind some food. You can prepare this the night before so it is ready to grab and eat.
  5. The last o the list is really to be done first, but not in the morning. Spend time before going to bed at night composing a to do list for the next day.  Take 5 minutes to just list out everything you want to remember. This will not only help you the next day, but it will also help you sleep at night. You won’t be laying there thinking about all that stuff instead of falling asleep.

Now go on and have a fantastic day!
